Easy Orchid Plants - Brassolaeliocattleya Chef D’Oeuvre ‘Etolle’

I define “easy” orchids as those that can be grown indoors in mild climates in homes that have the heating on during the daytime in winter.

This unusual and brightly colored hybrid was raised in France in 1986. The Olive-green petals and sepals make a striking contrast to the ruby-red lip. A specific breeding line has given rise to the open shape of the flower, which carries a hint of fragrance handed down from the Cattleya side. The slender pseudobulbs are quite tall, producing one to two flowers from the apex when fully mature. These delightful blooms are produced in the summer and will last for four to five weeks. Note the contrast of the unadorned sepals with the frilled petals and flared lip.

Flower Size: 4 inches (10cm) across

Plant Height: 14 inches (35cm)

Pot Size: 6 inches (15cm)
