Fairly Easy Orchids - Miltoniopsis Anjou ‘Saint Patrick’

I define “fairly easy” orchids as those that, while suitable for a beginner, may not be quite as tolerant of less than ideal conditions as the “easy” orchids.

A good example of the flamboyant pansy orchid, the hybrid M. anjou was raised in France in 1957 and remains a firm favorite today. This ‘Saint Patrick’ clone makes an ideal houseplant where intermediate temperatures can be provided for it, in a shady place well out direct sun. The plant produces its flower spikes as the pseudobulbs mature, often making two spikes per pseudobulb. Each spike will bear two to four flowers, which should last about three weeks. During the summer flowering season, hybrids such as this one can be found in abundance in garden centers and other outlets. When buying, be sure to look for plump pseudobulbs.

Flower Size: 4 inches (10cm) across

Flower Spike: 1 foot (30cm)

Plant Height: 9 inches (23cm)

Pot Size: 5-6 inches (12-15cm)
