Fairly Easy Orchids - Miltoniopsis Twin Peaks
I define “fairly easy” orchids as those that, while suitable for a beginner, may not be quite as tolerant of less than ideal conditions as the “easy” orchids.
This American hybrid raised in 1991 has been widely acclaimed and has gained popularity for the delicate thread-like markings at the center of its lip. These, with the cherry-red areas of its pearl-white petals make a winning combination. The fragrant flowers are large and well-shaped, with up to four blooms on a spike. These are produced in early summer and will last for three weeks. The arching habit of the spikes keeps the flowers well clear of the foliage, which is not much taller. It grows best in intermediate temperatures. Keep moist all year round, but be careful not to overwater in the winter.
Flower Size: 3 1/2 inches (9cm) across
Flower Spike: 1 foot (30cm)
Plant Height: 1 foot (30cm)
Pot Size: 4 inches (10cm)
