Top Ten Tell-Tale Signs That Your Orchid is Unhealthy

In this article I’ve come up with the top ten tell-tale signs that your orchid may be unhealthy.

Ten Signs of an Unhealthy Orchid

  1. No roots!
  2. Your orchid plant has developed brown edges on its leaves.
  3. A little plant on top of the flower stem (keiki).
  4. The roots have turned from white/thick/grey to shriveled.
  5. You may notice that over time your orchid has shrunk.
  6. There hasn’t been a bloom in over a year.
  7. You’ve developed a large plant, but none or few flowers or spikes.
  8. The leaves appear to be very dark green.
  9. Your orchids’ leaves appear to be sun-damaged; yellow, calloused in the middle of the leaves.
  10. When you notice that your pot seems to be to large for your orchid.
