I define “easy” orchids as those that can be grown indoors in mild climates in homes that have the heating on during the daytime in winter.

Not a true miniature, this is a compact hybrid that remains smaller than the standard types. A fine modern variety from 1995, young plants produce several flower spikes, each bearing up to a dozen blooms. These appear in the fall and can last as long as eight weeks; the color is a deep, non-fading yellow with a red stripe down the center of the sepals and petals. While not a plant to be grown in the tropics, in temperate areas it ranks high among the easy favorites for indoor or cool greenhouse culture.

Flower Size: 2 3/4 inch (7 cm) across.

Flower Spike: 16 inches (40 cm).

Plant Height: 26 inches (65 cm).

Pot Size: 8 inches (20 cm).
